It was opened by Tracey Martinez-Tennis and her husband Brandon, with their daughters Briana and Sophia helping run it, and Tracey's family had already owned a home on the mountain for more than twenty-five years before she inherited it from her parents.
The name comes from her mother's English heritage, and the shop opened on her father's birthday, August 31. Briana, an avid reader, helped select the store's stock, and Tracey has described the shop's mixed identity as reflecting her own background, adopted into an English and Mexican family and claiming both. Little symbols of Britain are tucked throughout the store as a nod to those summer trips to her mother's home country.
