Crestline is one of the best kept secrets in Southern California. It is situated in the San Bernardino Mountains, at an altitude between 4,500 to 5,000 above sea level. We enjoy four mild seasons and still average over 300 days of sunshine every year. Crestline is nestled on the western slope of the San Bernardinos so we enjoy the cool ocean breezes. Some of the finest things about Crestline include; affordable housing, variety of style of homes, easy commute, access to outdoor activities, and a sense of community.
Crestline homes are very low priced compared to Los Angeles or even Riverside. You can purchase a desirable home with a garage starting in the mid $300,000’s. Starter homes are available in the low $200,000’s and investment fixer uppers are selling for as low as $100 per square foot depending on the size and condition of the home.
Another very desirable quality you will find in Crestline homes is the huge variety of styles. You will not find two identical homes anywhere on the mountain. Each home is custom built to the slope of the land and unlike cities, there are no large development companies building cookie cutter subdivisions. So you can purchase a home as special as you are! If you want a quaint cabin, like Grandma had, we have them! If a spacious chalet style home with knotty pine soaring ceilings is what you are after, we have them too, and if you want a brand new home we have them as well. You may even choose to buy a vacant lot and build your dream home. Plus, Crestline does not have any CCR’s to prevent you from painting your home your favorite color and landscaping as you please.
One of the many reasons people choose Crestline over other mountain communities is it is such an easy commute to the city. Los Angeles is only 73 miles away. When you live in Crestline you can choose if you want to snow ski or go to the beach during the winter, both activities are minutes away. The residents of Crestline enjoy the slow pace of a small community where people are friendly and can still have a reasonable commute to many metropolitan areas for work and shopping. Plus, in a medical emergency, several major medical centers are available. Saint Bernardine Medical Center is less than a 30 minute drive.
Loma Linda University Medical Center and Jerry Pettis Veterans Hospital are less than an hour drive away
A variety of outdoor activities are at your disposal in Crestline. Whatever you like to do to stay in shape, Crestline has it. My favorite is the walking path around Lake Gregory. It’s a scenic 45 minute to one hour walk around the lake. There are exercise stations along the way path so you can get a complete workout. We even have a dog park so your dog can enjoy running without a leach. Lake Gregory is a great place to fish and play in the water too. There are several water crafts to rent when you visit. The Crestline area has several hikes from novice to advanced if you like to hike. There is a windsurfing club, they launch in Crestline and sail down to San Bernardino. Rim Park and Recreation offers very reasonable exercise classes and there is a Yoga studio and a health club. So staying is active is easy.
When we shopped for communities, the thing that impressed me the most I about Crestline is the sense of community and the level of involvement of the citizens. You can get involved with several charities ranging from the Chamber of Commerce to help promote your business, or the Rotary for example. Crestline has a beautiful library and very active Friends of the Library Club. You could even run for a position on a local board of directors. Or you may want to give involved in the Land Trust, an organization that preserves forest land. Because Crestline is relatively low altitude, we have a large population of 55 plus residents, and the Crest Forest Senior Club is very active. If you have sports minded children, you can lend a hand and volunteer to coach.
Whatever you are after, you can find it in Crestline. Don’t believe me, come up for a visit. You will want to stay a lifetime. Call me anytime 909-338-9995 if you would like to visit. Rosemarie Labadie
