Many of the homes I have sold through the years were to retirees purchasing their retirement home. There are many reasons they choose Crestline including affordable housing, central location, ideal weather and relatively low crime to name a few.
The Crestline population is approximately 10,770 more than 1,500 of the residents are over the age of 55, which translates a very active senior population. The Crest Forest Senior Citizen Club is a great way to get involved and meet new friends. It was formed in 1960 and is going strong today. The annual membership is only $20 per year and includes many activities, from card games, senior lunches and exercise classes. A clubhouse Called Leisure Shores is home to many of the activities. The Senior Club also owns a thrift store. The proceeds help fund events and other projects the club is working on. To learn more, visit the Crest Forest Senior Club at www.crestlineseniorcitizens.org
A very big draw for retires is the affordable housing. Crestline homes are very affordable, especially compared to other areas. You can purchase a beautiful home in the mid $200,000’s. If you would like a garage, factor in $300,000 plus. In addition, the Crestline community does not have the additional expense of homeowners associations or CCRs. Another cost saving factor to consider is Crestline is not a city so there is no additional city tax.
One of the many reasons people choose Crestline over other mountain communities is it is such an easy commute to the city. Los Angeles is only 73 miles away. The residents of Crestline enjoy the slow pace of a small community where people are friendly and can still have a reasonable commute to many metropolitan areas for work and shopping. Plus, in a medical emergency, several major medical centers are available. Saint Bernardine Medical Center is less than a 30 minute drive. Plus, Loma Linda University Medical Center and Jerry Pettis Veterans Hospital are less than an hour drive away.
Crestline is situated in the San Bernardino Mountains, at an altitude between 4,500 to 5,000 above sea level; this altitude makes mountain living possible for retirees to enjoy retirement in a quality community. We enjoy four mild seasons and still average over 300 days of sunshine every year. Crestline is nestled on the western slope of the San Bernardinos so we enjoy the cool ocean breezes.
According to www.neighborhoodscout.com the chances of being a victim of violent crime in Crestline is one in 327, compared to one in 225 statewide. Crimes in Crestline occur 15 per square mile compared to 89 per square mile statewide. I must admit, I do feel very safe here.
